Crafting Memories: A Bourbon Bigfoot Wedding for Bailey & Kate

This past year, we were honored to contribute to a truly special event—the wedding of my stepson, Bailey, and his bride, Kate. Being asked to create custom pieces for their big day was a privilege, and we poured our hearts (and hands!) into crafting each item. Here’s a peek at what we built to bring their vision to life.

The Arbor: Rooted in Tradition and Love

Their ceremony centerpiece was a custom 6×6 oak arbor, a true symbol of strength and unity. The story behind it added layers of meaning—it started as an oak tree that fell in our woods during a storm. We cut it up, pulled it from the forest, and milled it ourselves on the sawmill. It felt poetic that the wood could have come from a tree Bailey might have climbed as a kid. And now, it’s where he and Kate said their vows.

A Personalized Reception Setting

We didn’t stop with the arbor. We added slots to install a live edge table right on the arbor structure, providing the newlyweds with a unique, rustic place to enjoy their first meal as husband and wife. Around them, we added touches to complete the setting: a 30” metal sign showcasing their last name and initials, lanterns for each table (27 in total!), and a hand-carved “bread bowl” for treats.

Thoughtful Touches, Big and Small

For guests to feel part of the celebration, we crafted a special sign with shelving underneath to display custom koozies, and for an extra touch of personalization, we created custom laser-engraved hangers for Kate and her bridesmaids. Throughout the venue, several signs added personality and warmth, including laser-carved name signs for the wedding party and a special laser-engraved barrel lid for their guest book. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Kayla Bertke Photography & Design for beautifully capturing all of our pieces at Bailey & Kate’s wedding.

Crafting with Love and Teamwork

It was more than just a job; it was a labor of love to build each item, and we couldn’t have done it alone. Bailey and Kate spent time in the shop, adding personal touches and learning the ropes. And to the “Volun-tolds” (you know who you are!), your help made it all possible. From lifting lumber to perfecting the final details, we couldn’t have finished on time without you.

Bailey and Kate, we’re so grateful to have been part of your day. May your new life together be as strong and beautiful as the oak you stood under. We love you both!
